I am an independent consultant specialising in improving the safety, resilience and efficiency of dangerous goods, waste and military cargo operations across international logistics networks.
For more than 20 years, I have worked at the intersection of dangerous goods, maritime safety and international regulation. Most recently, I served as Senior Director & Global Head of Dangerous Goods, Military & Waste Cargo at a leading global container carrier, where I led a worldwide organization of specialists and established end-to-end ownership of DG processes across all transport modes. Today, I support shipping lines, logistics providers, authorities and industry bodies in strengthening the resilience of their high-risk cargo operations. My work typically focuses on:
- Assessing and improving DG, waste and military cargo processes from booking and validation through documentation, stowage and incident response
- Strengthening safety and compliance in line with the IMDG Code and related regulations
- Designing governance models, KPIs and training concepts that work in real-life operations, not just on paperBeyond strategic advisory work, I provide practical Cargo Safety Field Support for ports, terminals, logistics providers and cargo stakeholders.
Based in Northern Germany, I support organisations with hands-on assistance where operational challenges require immediate expertise, including:
- On-site cargo safety assessments and container-related support
- Dangerous goods documentation reviews, including DGD and supporting documentation
- Support with DG compliance issues and operational decision-making
- Assistance during incidents, investigations and cargo-related challenges
- Independent observations, reports and recommendations for insurers, P&I interests and logistics partnersThe objective is simple: bringing senior dangerous goods expertise closer to daily operations, helping organizations make informed decisions quickly, reduce risk and keep cargo moving safely.
I understand regulatory intent and how things actually work under commercial and operational pressure. This perspective allows me to bridge the gap between regulatory requirements, operational realities and business objectives.
Engagements are typically advisory or project based and involve complex, multi-country environments.
I work closely with selected clients to ensure dedicated attention, discretion and measurable impact.I welcome conversations with organizations facing complex dangerous goods, waste or military cargo challenges and looking for practical, independent expertise.

Project lead Hapag-Lloyd "Watchdog"
Hapag-Lloyd pioneered the structured search for undeclared
dangerous goods. My project back in 2011 paved the road to
make this longstanding industry problem transparent. At the
same time, we alerted and encouraged the industry to also
follow our approach. Today all shipping lines globally have a
structured search for undeclared Dangerous Goods in place. The
end of Watchdog / Cargo Patrol marks at the same time the
beginning of a new era:
HazCheck Detect from EXIS Technologies as a first truly global
industry approach towards more safety for our seafarers, our
assets and the environment.
Project lead “creating center of excellence for dangerous goods
validation”
I consolidated the global dangerous goods validation task in
one, newly created knowledge center for dangerous goods in
Gdansk, Poland. I founded and trained a completely new team
of 47 transport experts which graduated from university. Due to
the consolidation of this safety related global task into one
team, I could increase efficiencies and decrease turnaround
times for our customer, streamline legally required trainings
with less costs involved and we overall could decrease
headcounts in the regions.
Support National Cargo Bureau, NYC (US Coast Guard subsidiary
to create a screening tool to detect undeclared and mis
declared Dangerous Goods bookings
I served as an external expert supporting the National Cargo
Bureau in developing the “HazCheck Detect” screening tool.
Due to my plus 10 years of experience in the structured search
for mis declared and undeclared cargo, I could add value and
expertise to the development teams of the National Cargo
Bureau. Today I still support by continuously helping to develop
this market leading tool towards a high degree of automation
and the usage of AI in order to prevent false positives.
